The station is a large station built to meet the requirements of the vehicles moving on the railway and the passengers traveling with them. It is generally used for train, but also for bus terminal as bus station. Generally, the stations in the center of the city or nearest to the center of the large settlement areas where the rail passes are called stations.

Gar, demiryolu üzerinde hareket eden taşıtların ve bu taşıtlarla yolculuk yapan yolcuların gereksinimlerini karşılmak amacıyla yapılmış büyük istasyonlara denir. Genel anlamda daha çok tren için kullanılsa da otobüs terminali için de otogar olarak kullanılır. Genellikle demir yolunun geçtiği büyük yerleşim birimlerinin kentin merkezindeki ya da merkezime en yakın konumdaki istasyonlar gar olarak adlandırılırlar.
