La primera definición de conductividad en el diccionario también se llama: conducción. la propiedad de transmitir calor, electricidad o sonido. Otra definición de conductividad es una medida de la capacidad de una sustancia para conducir electricidad; el recíproco de la resistividad. La conductividad es también en el caso de una solución, la conductividad electrolítica es la densidad de corriente dividida por la intensidad del campo eléctrico, medida en siemens por metro. Anteriormente denominada conductancia específica.
