Oxalis tuberosa
Oxalis tuberosa es una planta herbácea perenne que pasa el invierno como tubérculos subterráneos del tallo. Estos tubérculos son conocidos como uqa en quechua, oca hispanizada, como yam de Nueva Zelanda y un número de otros nombres alternativos. La planta fue cultivada en los Andes centrales y meridionales para sus tubérculos, que se utilizan como raíces vegetales. La planta no se conoce en estado silvestre, pero se conocen poblaciones de especies silvestres de Oxalis que tienen tubérculos más pequeños en cuatro áreas de la región andina central. Oca fue introducido a Europa en 1830 como un competidor a la patata ya Nueva Zelandia ya en 1860. En Nueva Zelandia, el oca se ha convertido en un vegetal popular de la tabla y se llama simplemente ñame.
