Una utopía / juːtoʊpiə / es una comunidad o sociedad que posee cualidades altamente deseables o casi perfectas. La palabra fue acuñada por Sir Thomas More en latín para su libro Utopía de 1516, que describe una sociedad ficticia de la isla en el Océano Atlántico. El término se ha utilizado para describir tanto las comunidades intencionales que intentan crear una sociedad ideal, como las sociedades imaginadas retratadas en la ficción. Ha generado otros conceptos, la distopía más prominente.
