Las vías de señalización Wnt son un grupo de vías de transducción de señales hechas de proteínas que pasan señales desde el exterior de una célula a través de los receptores de la superficie celular hacia el interior de la célula. Se han caracterizado tres vías de señalización de Wnt: la vía canónica Wnt, la vía de polaridad celular no canónica y la vía no canónica Wnt / calcio. Las tres vías de señalización Wnt son activadas por la unión de un ligando de proteína Wnt a un receptor de la familia Frizzled, que pasa la señal biológica a la proteína Disheveled dentro de la célula. La vía canónica Wnt conduce a la regulación de la transcripción de genes, la ruta de polaridad celular planar no canónica regula el citoesqueleto que es responsable de la forma de la célula, y la vía no canónica Wnt / calcio regula el calcio dentro de la célula. Las vías de señalización de Wnt usan la comunicación celular o la comunicación de la misma célula. Se conservan altamente evolutivamente, lo que significa que son similares a través de muchas especies de moscas de la fruta a los seres humanos. Wnt señalización se identificó por primera vez por su papel en la carcinogénesis, pero desde entonces ha sido reconocido por su función en el desarrollo embrionario.
