La hemoglobina (acortamiento: Hb) es una molécula de proteína en los glóbulos rojos que se combinan con el oxígeno y el dióxido de carbono para ser transportados a través del sistema circulatorio hacia los tejidos del cuerpo. El ion de hierro en forma de Fe + 2 en la hemoglobina produce sangre roja en la sangre. En circunstancias normales, 100 ml de sangre contienen 15 gramos de hemoglobina capaces de transportar 0,03 gramos de oxígeno.
