Nomad se refiere a una forma de sustento que se mueve. Los nómadas pueden tener un lugar fijo de persistencia que se detienen cada año, pero aún se mueven cada año en otro lugar. El ejemplo nómada es el de los mongoles. Normalmente los nómadas consisten en pastores de animales que se ven obligados a moverse en busca de un campo de pastoreo más fértil, para evitar que los pastizales se queden sin pasto. También hay nómadas como los Orang Asli en Malasia que cultivan y practican métodos de corte y quema. Ellos migrarán después de que las tierras del bosque estén plantando fuera de los fertilizantes y se vuelvan infértiles. Se mudaron a la cueva por conveniencia.
