Thor

Thor: uno de los principales dioses de la dinastía de los Ases nórdicos, el equivalente al Donar del sur de Alemania. Dios del trueno y el rayo, el dios de las fuerzas vitales, el dios de la agricultura, como el portador de la lluvia responsable del nacimiento, frecuentaba también el hogar y el matrimonio. Hijo de Odin y Jörd, esposa Sif. Thor fue considerado un dios más favorable para los humanos que Odin: es igualmente violento, pero menos misterioso. Generalmente lo retrataban con una larga barba roja y un martillo en la mano, un símbolo de su fuerza. Thor era el roble. Viajó con un carro conducido por cabras. No era tan hábil como Odin y había caído en la trampa, pero finalmente siempre ganó. W czasie zmierzchu bogów Thor zabije Węża Midgardu, wielkiego Jormunganda, lecz zginie zatruty jego jadem. Od jego imienia pochodzi nazwa czwartku w języku norweskim, duńskim, szwedzkim, farerskim fińskim, holenderskim, niemieckim i staroangielskim oraz współczesnym angielskim = 'dzień Thora'.
