El Logos, en griego, está en el sentido de captarnos y usar la palabra pathos para comprender las emociones. La palabra "logos", que se basa en el concepto de ser de Herakleitos y no puede traducirse a otro idioma, es una palabra muy significativa como palabra, pensamiento, razón, ritmo, medida. En el siglo V aC, el logotipo de Heráclito definió el universo en la forma de un principio racional que estableció y movió el universo como un todo. En consecuencia, los logos fueron el principio de orden subyacente a ambas formaciones y la forma primitiva de conocimiento que determina la concepción del universo como tal; la comprensión del universo tuvo lugar en cierta proporción, es decir, en términos de edad en relación entre sí. En este sentido, los logotipos se oponen especialmente al azar y la progresividad. El significado dado por Herakleitos es diferente de "nous", que es el concepto principal de Anaxágoras. Nous también está presente como un organizador antes que el universo, y viene del exterior, y los logotipos están con el universo y en la formación universal. Herakleitos dice que todo pasa; no hay nada permanente en el medio ambiente.

Buna göre logos, hem oluşumların altında yatan ve onları biçimlendiren düzen ilkesi hem de evrenin böyle bir düzen olarak kavranmasında belirleyici olan bilgi ilkesiydi; evrenin kavranması belirli orantılara yani karşılıklı ilişki içindeki yas niteliğinde bağlantılara göre gerçekleşiyordu. Bu anlamıyla logos özellikle rastlantı ve gelişigüzelliğin karşıtıdır. Herakleitos'un verdiği anlam Anaksagoras'ın baş kavramı olan “nous” dan farklıdır. Nous bir düzenleyici olarak evrenden önce de vardır ve evrene dışardan gelir, logos ise evrenle birliktedir ve evrensel oluşun içindedir. Herakleitos her şey çıkar geçer der; evrende kalıcı olan hiçbir şey yoktur.
