Alidade
Une alidade ou une table tournante est un dispositif qui permet de regarder un objet distant et d'utiliser la ligne de visée pour effectuer une tâche. Cette tâche peut être, par exemple, tracer une ligne sur une table plane dans la direction de l'objet ou pour mesurer l'angle de l'objet à partir d'un point de référence. Les angles mesurés peuvent être horizontaux, verticaux ou dans n'importe quel plan choisi. L'utilisation principale de l'alidade est pour créer des cartes dans le plan horizontal. L'alidade était à l'origine une partie de nombreux types d'instruments scientifiques et astronomiques. En même temps, certaines alidades, en particulier celles utilisées sur les cercles diplômés comme sur les astrolabes, étaient également appelées dioptries. Avec la technologie moderne, le nom est appliqué à des instruments complets tels que l'avion de table alidade.
