Le harcèlement a largement disparu dans certaines parties du monde où le coût de la marchandise dépasse le gain pour les détaillants pour la plupart des articles de détail courants. Cependant, pour les biens coûteux vendus aux acheteurs mal informés tels que les automobiles, les négociations peuvent rester monnaie courante. Dickering fait référence au même processus, bien qu'avec une légère connotation négative. La négociation est également le nom choisi pour la troisième étape du modèle Kübler-Ross, même si cela n'a rien à voir avec les négociations sur les prix.

Haggling has largely disappeared in parts of the world where the cost to haggle exceeds the gain to retailers for most common retail items. However, for expensive goods sold to uninformed buyers such as automobiles, bargaining can remain commonplace. Dickering refers to the same process, albeit with a slight negative connotation. Bargaining is also the name chosen for the third stage of the Kübler-Ross model, even though it has nothing to do with price negotiations.
