Morue Murray
La morue Murray est un grand poisson d'eau douce prédateur australien du genre Maccullochella et la famille Percichthyidae. Bien que l'espèce soit appelée une morue en langue vernaculaire, elle n'est pas liée aux espèces de cabillaud marines de l'hémisphère Nord. La morue Murray est une partie importante et charismatique de la faune sauvage des vertébrés d'Australie et se trouve dans le système de rivière Murray-Darling en Australie. La morue Murray est le plus grand poisson d'eau douce exclusivement en Australie et l'un des plus grands au monde. D'autres noms communs pour la morue Murray incluent la morue, le poisson verdoyant et les bons plans. Le nom scientifique de la morue de Murray provient d'un chercheur de poisson australien précoce avec le nom de famille McCulloch et la rivière à partir de laquelle l'explorateur Major Mitchell a d'abord décrit scientifiquement l'espèce, la rivière Peel.
