Playmaker
En association de football, un playmaker est un joueur qui contrôle le flux de la partie offensive de l'équipe, et est souvent impliqué dans les mouvements passagers qui mènent aux buts. En football anglais, le terme chevauche un peu avec le milieu de terrain attaquant, mais les deux types de milieu de terrain ne sont pas forcément les mêmes. Plusieurs playmakers opèrent dans un rôle de milieu de terrain plus central, alternant entre attaquer et jouer au milieu de terrain. Dans le football italien, il existe généralement deux types principaux de playmakers: le trequartista et le regista. Le trequartista, habituellement portant le maillot numéro 10, occupera un rôle libre entre le milieu de terrain et les avant, soit au centre du terrain, soit sur les ailes. Ils feront souvent des passes incisives aux ailes ou à l'avant, les voyant sur le but ou pour livrer des croix de tueur, ainsi que des buts eux-mêmes. Ils sont également généralement des joueurs hautement techniques avec une bonne capacité de vision, de tir, de passage, de croisement et de dribble, connus pour marquer des buts ainsi que pour assister et lancer des jeux d'attaques.
