Le fait d'être pendu, attiré et découpé était, en 1351, une peine légale en Angleterre pour les hommes reconnus coupables de haute trahison, bien que le rituel ait été enregistré pour la première fois pendant les règnes du roi Henri III et son successeur, Edward I.
