Caleb - figure biblique de l'Ancien Testament, fils de Jephunne, père d'Ira, Eli, Naam et Aksy. Il était un Kenyan ou Edomite assimilé aux Israélites, ou, plus précisément, à la tribu de Juda, le frère aîné de Kenase, le fils de Jephunneh. Le seul homme qui avait plus de vingt ans à l'exception de Josué, qui n'a pas commis d'adultère envers Dieu pendant son voyage de 40 ans à Canaan. Le prix était l'entrée dans la Terre Promise et l'attribution du patrimoine d'Hébron. Il a vécu probablement au 13ème-12ème siècle avant JC. La Bible ne donne aucune information sur sa mort. Selon la tradition juive, il est mort dans la ville de Joshua Timnat-Serach. La famille de Caleb vient de la famille Kalebit.

Jedyny człowiek w wieku powyżej dwudziestu lat oprócz Jozuego, który w czasie czterdziestoletniej wędrówki do Kanaanu ani razu nie sprzeniewierzył się Bogu. Nagrodą za to był wstęp do Ziemi Obiecanej i przydział okolic Hebronu w dziedzictwo. Żył prawdopodobnie w XIII-XII wieku p.n.e. Biblia nie podaje żadnych informacji o jego śmierci. Według tradycji żydowskiej umarł w mieście Jozuego Timnat-Serach. Od Kaleba pochodzi ród Kalebitów.
