Comportamentismo
Behaviorismo, è un approccio alla psicologia che combina elementi di filosofia, metodologia e teoria. È emersa all'inizio del ventesimo secolo come reazione alla psicologia "mentalistica", che spesso aveva difficoltà a fare previsioni che potrebbero essere testate utilizzando rigorosi metodi sperimentali. Il principio primario del comportamentismo, come espresso negli scritti di John B. Watson, B. F. Skinner e altri, è che la psicologia deve preoccuparsi del comportamento osservabile di persone e animali, non con eventi non osservabili che si svolgono nella loro mente. La scuola comportamentale del pensiero mantiene che i comportamenti come tali possono essere descritti scientificamente senza ricorrere a eventi fisiologici interni o a costruzioni ipotetiche come pensieri e credenze. Dalla psicologia precoce del XIX secolo, la scuola comportamentista di pensiero ha condotto contemporaneamente e condiviso le commonalità con i movimenti psicoanalitici e gestaltici della psicologia nel XX secolo; Ma anche diversa dalla filosofia mentale degli psicologi Gestalt in modi critici.
