ओषधि में प्रयुक्त होनेवाला एक
प्रकार का छोटा पौधा ।
विशेष — इसकी पतियाँ पाल की पत्तियों से कुछ बड़ी होती
हैं । इससे एक प्रकार की कड़ी गंध निकलती है । बरसात के
अंत में ठढी जगहों पर या मोरियों के किनारे यह उगता है ।
पहले इसकी पतियाँ बड़ी होती हैं, पर डालियों निकलने पर
वे क्रमशः छोटी होने रोएँ होने लगती हैं । पत्तियों और डालियों पर
छोटे छोटे घने रोएँ होते हैं जिनके कारण वे बहुत मुलायम
मालूम होती हैं । जब यह हाथ डेढ़ हाथ का हो जाता है, तब
इसकी चोटी पर मंजरी लगती है, जिसमें तुलसी की भाँति
बीज निकलते हैं, जो पानी में ङालने पर इसबगोल की भाँति
फूल जाते हैं । वैद्यक के अनुसार यह कड़वा, चरपरा और
ज्वरनाशक है तथा रक्त और कफ के दोष को दूर करता है ।
यह आमरक्त, संग्रहणी और रक्तातिसार में भी उपकारी
होता है ।
