Lr., 273). Cuvînt de origine germanică (
v. germ. barta, germ. Bart, v. fr. barde, cf. alabarda), care coincide în parte cu un cuvînt oriental (
cuman. balta, tc. baltak, cf. baltag), fără să se poată distinge cu ușurință proveniența.
Der. din
mag. nu este absolut sigură; poate fi cuvînt importat în
mag., chiar din
rom., după Edelspacher, 9. Apare și în
slov.
barda, rut. barda; ultimul provenind din
rom. (Miklosich,
Wander., 12), ca și
săs. bardë. Der. din
mag. nefiind pe deplin satisfăcătoare, s-a propus ca etimon
sl. brady (Miklosich,
Slaw. Elem., 15), care prezintă aceeași dificultate constînd într-o metateză asemănătoarte cu cea din
blato ›
baltă; tc. barda (Popescu-Ciocănel 15), care pare mai curînd de origine
rom. (Candrea,
Elemente, 404; G. Meyer,
Türk. St., I, 2). Recent, Gamillscheg,
Romania germ., II, 261, a susținut că
rom. provine direct din
longob. barda. –
Der. bărdaș, s. m. (dulgher);
bárdie, bărdiță, s. f. (sapă);
