신용장은 금융 기관 또는 유사한 당사자가 발행 한 문서로 특정 문서가 은행에 제출 된 경우 상품 및 / 또는 서비스 판매자에게 지급을 보증합니다. 이 계약서는 판매자가 기본 계약에 따라 직무를 수행했으며 합의 된대로 제품이 공급되었음을 입증하는 서류입니다. 이러한 서류를 수령 한 수익자는 신용장을 발급 한 금융 기관으로부터 지불을받습니다. 신용장은 구매자가 궁극적으로 지불에 실패했는지 여부와 상관없이 지불 될 판매자에게 보증하는 역할을합니다. 이렇게하면 구매자가 지불하지 못할 위험이 매도인에서 신용장 발급 기관으로 이전됩니다. 신용장은 신용장에 명시된 문서에 이러한 요구 사항이 반영되는 경우 모든 합의 된 표준 및 제품의 품질이 공급 업체에 의해 충족되도록하기 위해 사용될 수도 있습니다. 신용장은 주로 한 국가의 공급자와 다른 국가의 고객 간의 거래를 위해 국제 무역에서 사용됩니다.

A letter of credit is a document issued by a financial institution, or a similar party, assuring payment to a seller of goods and/or services provided certain documents have been presented to the bank. These are documents that prove that the seller has performed the duties under an underlying contract and the goods have been supplied as agreed. In return for these documents, the beneficiary receives payment from the financial institution that issued the letter of credit. The letter of credit serves as a guarantee to the seller that it will be paid regardless of whether the buyer ultimately fails to pay. In this way, the risk that the buyer will fail to pay is transferred from the seller to the letter of credit's issuer. The letter of credit can also be used to ensure that all the agreed upon standards and quality of goods are met by the supplier, provided that these requirements are reflected in the documents described in the letter of credit. Letters of credit are used primarily in international trade for transactions between a supplier in one country and a customer in another.
