Transit aliran deras,

metro atau
metropolitan railway adalah kereta api penumpang elektrik di kawasan bandar, dengan muatan dan kekerapan yang tinggi, serta pemisahan gred daripada lalu lintas yang lain. Sistem transit aliran deras kebiasaannya terletak sama ada di terowong bawah tanah atau di landasan struktur bertingkat di atas aras tanah. Di luar kawasan bandar, laluan transit aliran deras ini berkemungkin besar beroperasi di aras tanah dengan laluan berasingan. Sistem transit aliran deras yang pertama adalah London Underground yang dibuka pada 1863. Dua cara utama yang terowong laluan bawah tanah dibina ialah melalui potong dan tutup serta penggerekan. Lebih daripada 160 buah bandar raya mempunyai sistem transit aliran deras yang jumlahnya melebihi 8,000 km landasan dan 7,000 buah stesen. Dua puluh lima bandar raya sedang membina sistem baru.
