Fyllit
Fyllit jest rodzajem foliowanej skały metamorficznej wytworzonej z łupka, która jest dalej metamorfizowana tak, że bardzo drobnoziarnista biała mika osiąga preferowaną orientację. Składa się głównie z kwarcu, sericytu miki i chloritu. Fyllit ma preferowaną orientację drobnoziarnistych płatków mi- kowych, podczas gdy łupek ma bardzo drobne płatki gliny, które osiągają korzystną orientację, a łupek ma duże płatki w korzystnej orientacji. Wśród skał metamorficznych, reprezentuje gradację stopnia metamorfizmu między łupkiem a łukiem. Minerały kryształów grafitu, sericytu lub chlorytu, czy półprzezroczysta drobna biała mika, nadają jedwabistą, czasem złotą poświatę na powierzchnie cięcia, zwane "phyllitic luster". Słowo pochodzi z greckiego fillonu, czyli "liść". Protolitem dla fylitów jest łupek lub pelit, czyli łupek, który z kolei pochodził z protolitu łupkowego. Składowe składniki mineralne są większe niż w łupku, ale nie są widoczne gołym okiem.
