Tintype
Um tintype, também conhecido como melainotype ou ferrotype, é uma fotografia feita criando um positivo direto em uma fina camada de ferro revestido com uma laca escura ou esmalte e usado como suporte para a emulsão fotográfica. Tintypes desfrutaram de seu uso mais amplo durante as décadas de 1860 e 1870, mas o menor uso do meio persistiu no início do século 20 e foi revivido como uma novidade no 21º. Os retratos de Tintype foram, em primeiro lugar, geralmente feitos em um estúdio fotográfico formal, como daguerreotypes e outros tipos de fotografias iniciais, mas depois foram mais comumente feitos por fotógrafos trabalhando em estandes ou ao ar livre em feiras e carnavais, bem como por fotógrafos itinerantes .
