Geode
Os geodes são estruturas secundárias geológicas que ocorrem em certas rochas sedimentares e vulcânicas. São eles próprios de origem sedimentar formados por precipitação química. Os geodes são essencialmente esqueléticos, esferóides e oblatos de matéria mineral que podem ter formado a partir de dois processos diferentes: ▪ pelo enchimento de vesículas em rochas vulcânicas a sub-vulcânicas por minerais depositados a partir de fluídos hidrotermais ou ▪ pela dissolução de sedimentação nódulos ou concreções e enchimento parcial pelo mesmo ou outros minerais precipitados a partir de água diagenetica, águas subterrâneas ou fluídos hidrotérmicos. Os geodes diferem de vugs em que os primeiros foram formados como estruturas iniciais, arredondadas, dentro da rocha circundante e são muitas vezes removidos intactos, enquanto que os vugs são bolsos em forma irregular, vazios ou cavidades dentro de uma formação, muitas vezes ao longo de uma veia ou na breca. Os Geodes também diferem dos "nódulos", pois um nódulo é uma massa de matéria mineral que se acumula em torno do núcleo do nódulo. Ambas as estruturas tinham os minerais contidos, depositados a partir de águas subterrâneas ou processos hidrotérmicos.
