Tabriz (persa: تبریز, pronunciada (escuta); Azerbaijano: Təbriz / تبریز) é a quinta cidade mais populosa do Irã, uma das capitais históricas do Irã e a atual capital da província do Azerbaijão Oriental. Está situado no vale do rio Quru e sua elevação do nível do mar é de cerca de 1.350 metros. Tabriz está localizado em um vale ao norte da longa crista do cone vulcânico de Sahand, ao sul da montanha de Eynali. O vale abre-se para uma planície que encosta suavemente até o extremo norte-leste do Lago Urmia, a 60 quilômetros (37 milhas) a oeste. Com invernos frios e verões temperados, a cidade é considerada um resort de verão. A população estimada da cidade é de cerca de 3.000.000 com base nos resultados do departamento de censos do Irã. Tabriz é a quinta cidade mais populosa do Irã após Teerã, Mashhad, Isfahan e Karaj. Tabriz é um importante centro para indústrias pesadas, incluindo automotivo, máquinas-ferramentas, petróleo e petroquímica e produção de cimento.
