A fost luat de tatăl său din Troia incendiată și purtat în peregrinările acestuia pînă în Italia. Acolo, după moartea lui Aeneas, a întemeiat cetatea Alba-Longa, peste care a domnit. Era considerat drept întemeietorul gintei Iulia.
