A Barge é uma designação genérica para os diferentes tipos de estruturas flutuantes de aço, madeira ou concreto, com fundo plano, corpo inteiro, arado ou não planejado, geralmente sem propulsão, e usado em portos, lagoas, distritos costeiros e Canais e rios em larga escala, transporte de mercadorias a granel e vários serviços de manutenção e porto. Em regra, ele não tem seus próprios meios de propulsão e está sendo rebocado por um navio especial, um puxão; mas também há barcaças auto-propulsionadas. Em muitos portos, eles são usados para transportar mercadorias de navios para cais e vice-versa ou, especialmente, para alterar operações.
