Smarald
Emerald este o piatră prețioasă și o varietate de berili mineral (Be3Al2 (SiO3) 6) verde colorat de urme de crom și uneori de vanadiu. Beryl are o duritate de 7,5-8 pe scara Mohs de duritate minerala cu 10 puncte. Cele mai multe smaralde sunt foarte incluse, astfel încât duritatea lor (rezistența la rupere) este clasificată ca fiind în general slabă.
