Geode
Geodelele sunt structuri secundare geologice care apar în anumite roci sedimentare și vulcanice. Ele sunt ele însele de origine sedimentară formată din precipitații chimice. Geodelele sunt în esență goale, sferoide libere pentru a suprapune masele de materie minerală care s-au format din două procese diferite: ▪ prin umplerea veziculelor în roci vulcanice sau subtercanice cu minerale depuse din fluide hidrotermale sau ▪ prin dizolvarea sedimentară nodule sau concreții și umplere parțială de către aceleași sau alte minerale precipitate din ape diagenetice, ape subterane sau fluide hidrotermale. Geodurile diferă de vugs prin faptul că fostele au fost formate ca structuri timpurii, rotunjite în interiorul stâncii din jurul lor și sunt adesea îndepărtate intacte, în timp ce vugs sunt buzunare în formă neregulată, goluri sau cavități în interiorul unei formațiuni, adesea de-a lungul unei vene sau în brecie. De asemenea, geodurile diferă de "noduli" prin faptul că un nodul este o masă de materie minerală care a apărut în jurul nucleului nodulului. Ambele structuri aveau mineralele conținute în acestea, depozitate din apele subterane sau din procesele hidrotermale.
