Normandia
Normandia este o regiune geografică a Franței care corespunde fostului Ducat al Normandiei. Teritoriul continental acoperă 30.627 km² și formează partea preponderentă a Normandiei și aproximativ 5% din teritoriul Franței. Se împarte în scopuri administrative în două regiuni: Normandia de Jos și Normandia Superioară. Populația din Normandia este de aproximativ 3,45 milioane. Populația continentală de 3,26 milioane reprezintă 5,5% din populația Franței. Insulele Channel sunt istoric parte a Normandiei, acoperă 194 km² și cuprind două lacuri: Guernsey și Jersey, care sunt dependente de Coroana Britanică. Normandia de Sus cuprinde departamentele franceze din Seine-Maritime și Eure și Normandia de Jos din departamentele Orne, Calvados și Manche. Provincia anterioară a Normandiei cuprindea Normandia de Sus și Normandia de astăzi, precum și zonele mici care fac parte acum din departamentele Eure-et-Loir, Mayenne și Sarthe. Numele este derivat din așezarea teritoriului de Vikingi din secolul al IX-lea și confirmat prin tratat în secolul al X-lea.
