Albert Einstein (/ ælbərt aɪnstaɪn /; Almanca: (dinle); 14 Mart 1879 - 18 Nisan 1955) Alman doğumlu bir teorik fizikçiydi. Modern fizikte (kuantum mekaniğinin yanında) iki temel direkten biri olan genel görelilik teorisini geliştirdi. En çok, "dünyanın en ünlü denklemi" olarak adlandırılan E = mc2 kitle enerjisi eşdeğerlik formülüyle tanınır. Teorik fizikteki hizmetleri ve özellikle fotoelektrik etki yasasını keşfi için 1921 Nobel Fizik Ödülünü aldı. İkincisi, kuantum teorisinin oluşturulmasında önemli bir rol oynamıştır. Kariyerinin başlangıcında Einstein, Newton mekanikçisinin klasik mekanik yasalarını elektromanyetik alan yasalarıyla uzlaştırmak için artık yeterli olmadığını düşündü.
