Ulex, Fabaceae ailesinde çiçekli bir bitki cinsidir. Bu cins, Fabaceae bezelye ailesinin Faboideae alt familyasındaki dikenli yeşillikler içinde çalılar olmak üzere yaklaşık 20 türden oluşur. Türler, Iberia'daki türlerin çoğunluğuyla birlikte Batı Avrupa'nın ve kuzeybatı Afrika'nın yerli bölgelerinde bulunur.
