İnsanlarda otolog erişkin kök hücrelerin üç erişilebilir kaynağı bilinmektedir: ▪ Kemik iliği, hasat yoluyla çıkarılmasını, yani kemiğe delinmesini gerektirir ▪ Yağ emme işlemi ile ekstraksiyon gerektiren yağ dokusu ve ▪ Aferez ile ekstraksiyon gerektiren kan burada kan donörden alınır ve kök hücrelerini çıkartan ve kanın diğer bölümlerini donöre veren bir makineden geçirilir.
