Zoisite, ilk olarak saul olarak bilinen, tip lokalitesinden sonra, minerallerin epidot grubuna ait bir kalsiyum alüminyum hidroksi sorosilikattır. Kimyasal formülü Ca2Al3O'dur. Zoisite, metamorfik ve pegmatitik kaya içerisinde bulunan prizmatik, ortorombik kristaller halinde ya da masif formda bulunur. Zoisite maviye mor, yeşil, kahverengi, pembe, sarı, gri veya renksiz olabilir. Pürüzsüz kırıklara karşı camsı parlaklık ve konroide sahiptir. Özsu, zoisit kristalleri ana eksene paralel olarak çizgiler. Ayrıca, ana eksene paralel, mükemmel bir yarılmanın bir yöndür. Mineral sertlikte 6'dan biraz daha yüksektir ve özgül ağırlığı çeşidine bağlı olarak 3.10 ila 3.38 arasındadır. Beyaz çizgiler gösterir ve kırılgan olduğu söylenir. Clinozoisit, zoisitin daha yaygın bir monoklinik polimorfudur. Tanzanya'dan Anyolit Şeffaf malzeme, değerli taşlardan opak malzemeye genellikle oyulmuşken, değerli taşlar haline getirilmiştir.
