Нітрація - це загальний клас хімічного процесу для введення нітрогрупи в органічну хімічну сполуку. Більш вільно цей термін також неправильно застосований до різного процесу утворення нітратних складних ефірів між спиртами та азотною кислотою, як це відбувається при синтезі нітрогліцерину.
