Префікс
Префікс - це афікс, який розміщується перед основою слова. Додавши його до початку одного слова, він змінюється на інше слово. Наприклад, коли префікс un- додається до слова happy, він створює слово нещасливим. Зокрема, при вивченні мов префікс також називається преформативним, оскільки він змінює форму слів, до яких вона прикріплена. Префікси, як і інші афікси, можуть бути як видозмінні, змінювати синтаксичну категорію, так і деривацію, змінюючи або лексичну категорію, або семантичне значення. На англійській мові не існує жорстких префіксів. Префікси, як і всі інші афікси, пов'язані з морфемами. Слово префікс само по собі складається з виправлення стовбура, а префікс попередній, обидва з яких походять від латинських коренів.
