নাগরিক অধিকার
নাগরিকত্ব একটি রাষ্ট্রের কাস্টম বা আইন অধীনে স্বীকৃত ব্যক্তির অবস্থা যে সেই ব্যক্তির অধিকার এবং নাগরিকত্ব কর্তব্য দায়িত্ব প্রদান করে। যে দেশে ভোটার করার অধিকার, কাজ এবং দেশে বাস করতে পারে, দেশটিতে ফিরে যাওয়ার অধিকার, রিয়েল এস্টেটের অধিকার, দেশের সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে আইনী সুরক্ষা এবং সামরিক বা কূটনীতির মাধ্যমে সুরক্ষা। একটি নাগরিকও নির্দিষ্ট দায়িত্ব পালন করতে পারে, যেমন দেশের আইন অনুসরণ করার, ট্যাক্স দিতে বা সেনাবাহিনীতে সেবা করার দায়িত্ব। একজন ব্যক্তির একাধিক নাগরিকত্ব থাকতে পারে এবং যেকোনো রাষ্ট্রের নাগরিকত্ব নেই এমন ব্যক্তিটিকে স্টেটলাল বলে অভিহিত করা হয়। জাতীয়তা প্রায়ই ইংরেজিতে নাগরিকত্বের সমার্থক হিসাবে ব্যবহৃত হয় - বিশেষ করে আন্তর্জাতিক আইনের মধ্যে - যদিও শব্দটি কখনও কখনও একজন ব্যক্তির একজন সদস্যের সদস্য হিসাবে চিহ্নিত হিসাবে বোঝা যায়। কিছু দেশে, যেমন মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র, ইসরায়েল, ফিলিপাইন এবং যুক্তরাজ্য, "জাতীয়তা" এবং "নাগরিকত্ব" এর বিভিন্ন অর্থ থাকতে পারে।
