ক্রিপ্টোসোরিওডিয়াম এপিকোম্প্লাক্সন প্রোটোজোনের একটি বংশধর, যা ডায়রিয়া দ্বারা গ্যাস্ট্রোইনটেস্টাইনাল রোগের কারণ হতে পারে। ক্রিপ্টোসরপিডিয়াম হল ডায়রিয়া দ্বারা উপস্থাপিত এইচআইভি পজিটিভ রোগীদের মধ্যে সর্বাধিক বিচ্ছিন্ন জীব। চিকিত্সা লক্ষণীয়, তরল রিহাইড্রেশন, ইলেক্ট্রোলাইট সংশোধন এবং কোন ব্যথা ব্যবস্থাপনা সঙ্গে। ক্রিপ্টোসরপিডিয়াম oocysts 4-6 μm ব্যাস এবং আংশিক অ্যাসিড-ফাস্ট স্টেনিং প্রদর্শন করে। Cyclospora cayetanensis সহ অন্যান্য আংশিকভাবে অ্যাসিড-দ্রুতগতির জীব থেকে তাদের আলাদা করা উচিত।
