ইম্বিবিশনটি একটি তরল পদার্থের অপ্রত্যাশিত স্থান হিসাবে বর্ণনা করা হয় যথা অন্যটি তেজস্ক্রিয় তরল। এই প্রক্রিয়া বিভিন্ন কারণ দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত এবং প্রভাবিত হয়। তরল ও কঠিন পৃষ্ঠ শক্তিগুলির পারস্পরিক পারস্পরিক পারস্পরিক পারস্পরিক পার্শ্ব প্রতিক্রিয়া হিসাবে, porous media in the wetting তরল মধ্যে স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত রসায়ন, কৈশিক চাপ, তরল স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত স্তন্যপান জন্য দায়ী। কৈশিক সংখ্যা এবং গতিশীলতা অনুপাত সর্বাধিক গুরুত্ব আছে। ইম্বিবিশনটি এমন প্রপঞ্চ রূপে সংজ্ঞায়িত করা হয় যেটি জীবন্ত বা মৃত উদ্ভিদ কোষ পৃষ্ঠের আকর্ষণ দ্বারা পানি শোষণ করে। পেটেকস এবং ডায়াস কর্তৃক শোষণ প্রক্রিয়ার একটি শ্রেণীবিন্যাস দেওয়া হয়েছিল: ছিটমহল মিডিয়াতে দুই-তৃতীয়াংশের প্রবাহে, উভয় ধরনের স্থানচ্যুতি একের মধ্যে অন্তর্ভুক্ত, অন্যটি হচ্ছে নিষ্কাশন। ইমবেবিশনটি ঘটে যখন ভল্টিং তরল একটি অ-ভেল্টিং তরল বিচ্ছিন্ন করে দেয়, যেখানে নিষ্কাশন না হওয়া অবস্থায় ভেজানো তরলটি বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়। দুটি প্রক্রিয়া বিভিন্ন প্রক্রিয়া দ্বারা নিয়ন্ত্রিত হয় এবং বিভ্রান্ত করা উচিত নয়।
