একটি মুসলিম, কখনও কখনও মোস্তফা বানানো কুরআনের উপর ভিত্তি করে ইসলামের একটি একেশ্বরবাদী ধার্মিক ধর্ম। মুসলিমরা কোরআনকে আল্লাহর কিতাবের কথা বলে মনে করে যেমন ইসলামিক নবী মুহাম্মদকে প্রকাশ করেছেন। তারা হাদিস নামক ঐতিহ্যবাহী অ্যাকাউন্টে রেকর্ডকৃত মুহাম্মদের শিক্ষা ও চর্চা অনুসরণ করে। "মুসলিম" একটি আরবি শব্দ, যার অর্থ "ঈশ্বরকে সমর্পণ করে"। একটি মহিলা মুসলিম কখনও কখনও একটি "মুসলিম" বলা হয়। মুসলমানরা বিশ্বাস করে যে ঈশ্বর শাশ্বত, অতীত এবং একেবারে এক। তারা ধরে রাখে যে, ঈশ্বর অসীম, আত্মনির্ভরশীল এবং না জন্ম হয় এবং জন্ম হয় নি। তারা বিশ্বাস করে যে ইসলাম একটি আদিম বিশ্বাসের সম্পূর্ণ এবং সার্বজনীন সংস্করণ যা অবতীর্ণ অনেক অব্রাহাম, মূসা, ইসমাঈল ও যীশু সহ নবীগণের মাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। মুসলমানরাও বিশ্বাস করে যে এই পূর্ববর্তী বার্তাগুলি এবং আয়াতগুলি আংশিকভাবে পরিবর্তিত হয়েছে বা সময়ের সাথে দুর্নীতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে এবং কুরআন হল ঈশ্বরের কাছ থেকে চূড়ান্ত অবিচ্ছিন্ন উদ্ঘাটন। বেশিরভাগ মুসলিম এমন একজন মুসলিম হিসাবে গ্রহণ করে, যিনি প্রকাশ্যে শাহাদাহকে উলেস্নখ করে বলেছেন: আমি সাক্ষ্য দিচ্ছি যে, আল্লাহ ছাড়া অন্য কোন উপাস্য নেই এবং আমি সাক্ষ্য দিচ্ছি যে মুহাম্মাদ আল্লাহর রসূল।
