কম্পিউটিংয়ে ভার্চুয়াল মেমরি একটি মেমরি ম্যানেজমেন্ট টেকনিক যা হার্ডওয়্যার এবং সফ্টওয়্যার উভয় ব্যবহার করেই বাস্তবায়িত হয়। এটি একটি মেমোরি মেমরি অ্যাড্রেস ব্যবহৃত হয়, ভার্চুয়াল অ্যাড্রেস নামে, কম্পিউটার মেমরিতে ভৌত ঠিকানাগুলিতে। একটি প্রসেস বা টাস্ক দ্বারা প্রদর্শিত প্রধান সঞ্চয়স্থানের একটি সংলগ্ন ঠিকানা স্থান বা সংলগ্ন অংশ সংগ্রহ হিসাবে প্রদর্শিত হবে। অপারেটিং সিস্টেম ভার্চুয়াল অ্যাড্রেস স্পেস এবং ভার্চুয়াল মেমরিতে প্রকৃত মেমরির কার্য পরিচালনা করে। CPU তে অনুবাদ হার্ডওয়্যার অ্যাড্রেসটি প্রায়ই মেমরি ম্যানেজমেন্ট একক বা MMU হিসাবে উল্লেখ করা হয়, স্বয়ংক্রিয়ভাবে ভার্চুয়াল অ্যাড্রেসকে প্রকৃত ঠিকানাগুলিতে অনুবাদ করে। অপারেটিং সিস্টেমের মধ্যে সফটওয়্যারগুলি এই ভার্চুয়াল অ্যাড্রেস স্পেস প্রদান করতে এইসব ক্ষমতা প্রসারিত করতে পারে যা প্রকৃত মেমরির ক্ষমতা অতিক্রম করতে পারে এবং এইভাবে কম্পিউটারে শারীরিকভাবে উপস্থিত হওয়া তুলনায় আরো মেমরির উল্লেখ করে। ভার্চুয়াল মেমরির প্রাথমিক সুবিধাগুলির মধ্যে অন্তর্ভুক্ত রয়েছে মেমোরি স্থান ভাগ করে নেওয়া, মেমরি বিচ্ছিন্নতার কারণে নিরাপত্তা বাড়ানো এবং পজিশনের কৌশল ব্যবহার করে শারীরিকভাবে উপলভ্য হতে পারে এমন ধারণার ভিত্তিতে আরও মেমরি ব্যবহার করা।
