ঘেটো 1. একটি জাতিগত বা সামাজিক সংখ্যালঘু গোষ্ঠী দ্বারা বসবাসরত শহুরে এলাকা, সাধারণত দরিদ্র অবস্থায় বাস করা, ভিড় এবং অদৃশ্য হাউজিং, বিচ্ছিন্ন ইত্যাদি। শুধু বর্জিত ও অপ্রচলিত আবাসনের গুণগত মান নয়, বরং লোকেদের বৈশিষ্ট্যও যারা এটি দখল; অনেক কালো শ্রমিক শিকাগো, ডেট্রয়েট বা নিউইয়র্কে থাকতে বাধ্য হয়; 2. একটি ইউরোপীয় শহর এলাকা একবার ইহুদি মানুষের বাসস্থান ব্যবহৃত ghetto 1. kawasan bandar yg didiami oleh sesuatu etnik atau kumpulan sosial minoriti, biasanya hidup dlm keadaan miskin, perumahan yg sesak dan daif, terasing dsb: ~ bukan sahaja dikaitkan dgn kualiti tempat kediaman yg merosot dan usang, tetapi juga dgn ciri-ciri kaum yg menghuninya; ramai pekerja kulit hitam yg terpaksa tinggal di ~ di Chicago, Detroit atau New York; 2. kawasan di sesebuah bandar raya di Eropah yg dahulunya menjadi tempat kediaman penduduk Yahudi.
