Pada asalnya, Mac merupakan bulan pertama dalam kalendar Rom. Kemudian pada tahun 45 SM, Julius Caesar menambahkan bulan Januari dan Februari di hadapannya. Mac bermula pada hari yang sama dengan Februari pada tahun biasa dan bulan November pada semua tahun.
