রোবট একটি যান্ত্রিক বা ভার্চুয়াল ডিভাইস যা শারীরিক কাজ বা সফ্টওয়্যার সঞ্চালন করতে পারে, মানুষের পর্যবেক্ষণ ও নিয়ন্ত্রণ ব্যবহার করে, বা একটি কৃত্রিম বুদ্ধিমত্তা হিসাবে সংজ্ঞায়িত করা হয়েছে এমন একটি প্রোগ্রাম ব্যবহার করে। শব্দ রোবট উভয় উল্লেখ করতে পারেন, কিন্তু ভার্চুয়াল রোবট সাধারণত একটি ইন্টারনেট বট হিসাবে বলা হয়। প্রথম রোবট শব্দটি আইজাক আসিমভ তার কাল্পনিক বিজ্ঞান সংক্ষিপ্ত কাহিনীতে "রানারউন্ড" ব্যবহার করেছিলেন।

Robot adalah sebuah alat mekanikal atau maya yang dapat melakukan tugas fizikal atau perisian, sama ada menggunakan pengawasan dan pengawalan manusia, atau menggunakan program yang telah ditakrifkan sebagai kecerdasan buatan. Perkataan robot boleh merujuk kepada kedua-duanya, namun robot maya ini biasanya dirujuk sebagai bot internet. Perkataan robot pertama digunakan oleh Isaac Asimov dalam cerpen sains fiksyennya "runaround".
