Ambulacral
Ambulacral ist ein Begriff, der typischerweise im Zusammenhang mit anatomischen Teilen des Phylums Echinodermata oder der Klasse Asteroidea und Edrioasteroidea verwendet wird. Stachelhäuter können ambulacrale Teile haben, die Gehörknöchelchen, Platten, Stacheln und Saugnäpfe enthalten. Zum Beispiel haben Seestern oder "Sternfische" einen ambulakralen Groove auf ihrer mündlichen Seite. Diese ambulakrale Nut erstreckt sich vom Mund bis zum Ende jedes Strahls oder Armes. Jede Rille jedes Armes hat wiederum vier Reihen von hohlen Rohrfüßen, die ausgefahren oder zurückgezogen werden können. Gegenüber der ambulakralen Groove ist ein ambulakraler Grat auf der aboralischen Seite jedes Strahls, bekannt als ein Ambulakum. Diese haben interambulacra zwischen ihnen.
