Hohlraummagnetrons können nicht ordnungsgemäß verwendet werden, um Oberflächen- und Brennen zu erzeugen. Abhängig von der Photonenenergie kann Gammastrahlung sehr tiefe Gamma-Verbrennungen verursachen, mit 60Co internen Verbrennungen sind üblich.
