Adventismus
Adventismus ist eine christliche Bewegung, die im 19. Jahrhundert begann, im Kontext der Zweiten Großen Erwachen Wiederbelebung in den Vereinigten Staaten. Der Name bezieht sich auf den Glauben an das bevorstehende Zweite Kommen Jesu Christi. Es wurde von William Miller begonnen, dessen Anhänger als Milleriten bekannt wurden. Heute ist die größte Kirche in der Bewegung die Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten-Kirche. Die adventistische Kirchenfamilie gilt heute als konservative Protestanten. Obwohl sie viel gemeinsam haben, unterscheidet sich ihre Theologie davon, ob der Zwischenzustand unbewußter Schlaf oder Bewußtsein ist, ob die endgültige Bestrafung der Gottlosen Vernichtung oder ewige Qualen ist, die Natur der Unsterblichkeit, ob die Gottlosen nach dem Jahrtausend wieder auferstehen, Und ob das Heiligtum von Daniel 8 auf das im Himmel oder auf der Erde verweist. Die Bewegung hat die Untersuchung der ganzen Bibel gefördert, die Siebenten-Tags-Adventisten und einige kleinere Adventisten-Gruppen, um den Sabbat zu beobachten.
