Alkaloid
Alkaloide sind eine Gruppe von natürlich vorkommenden chemischen Verbindungen, die meist basische Stickstoffatome enthalten. Diese Gruppe enthält auch einige verwandte Verbindungen mit neutralen und sogar schwach sauren Eigenschaften. Einige synthetische Verbindungen ähnlicher Struktur werden auch auf Alkaloide zurückgeführt. Alkaloide werden von einer Vielzahl von Organismen hergestellt, darunter Bakterien, Pilze, Pflanzen und Tiere und sind Teil der Gruppe der Naturprodukte. Viele Alkaloide können aus Roh-Extrakten durch Säure-Base-Extraktion gereinigt werden. Viele Alkaloide sind für andere Organismen giftig. Sie haben oft pharmakologische Wirkungen und werden als Medikamente, als Erholungsmedikamente oder in entheogenen Ritualen verwendet.
