Alkene
In der organischen Chemie ist ein Alken, Olefin oder Olefin eine ungesättigte chemische Verbindung, die mindestens eine Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff-Doppelbindung enthält. Die einfachsten acyclischen Alkene mit nur einer Doppelbindung und ohne andere funktionelle Gruppen, die als Monoene bekannt sind, bilden eine homologe Reihe von Kohlenwasserstoffen mit der allgemeinen Formel CnH2n. Sie haben zwei Wasserstoffatome weniger als das entsprechende Alkan. Das einfachste Alken ist Ethylen, das die Internationale Vereinigung der reinen und angewandten Chemie namens Ethen hat. In der petrochemischen Industrie werden Alkene oft Olefine genannt. Für gebrückte Alkene besagt die Bredtsche Regel, dass eine Doppelbindung nicht an den Brückenkopf eines gebrückten Ringsystems gestellt werden kann, es sei denn, die Ringe sind groß genug. Aromatische Verbindungen werden oft als cyclische Alkene gezeichnet, aber ihre Struktur und Eigenschaften sind unterschiedlich und sie werden nicht als Alkene angesehen.
