Amyloid
Amyloide sind unlösliche faserige Proteinaggregate, die spezifische strukturelle Merkmale teilen. Sie entstehen aus mindestens 18 unangemessen gefalteten Versionen von Proteinen und Polypeptiden, die natürlich im Körper vorhanden sind. Diese fehlgefalteten Strukturen verändern ihre korrekte Konfiguration, so dass sie fehlerhaft miteinander oder andere Zellkomponenten interagieren, die unlösliche Fibrillen bilden. Sie wurden mit der Pathologie von mehr als 20 ernsten menschlichen Krankheiten in dieser abnormen Anhäufung von Amyloidfibrillen in Organen assoziiert, können zu einer Amyloidose führen und können bei verschiedenen neurodegenerativen Erkrankungen eine Rolle spielen.
