Antinomianismus
Im Christentum ist ein Antinomier "einer, der hält, dass unter dem Gospel-Gnadenausdruck das Sittengesetz von Nutzen oder Verpflichtung ist, weil der Glaube allein zur Rettung notwendig ist". Viele Antinomianer glauben jedoch, dass die Christen dem Sittengesetz trotz ihrer Freiheit gehorchen werden. Die Unterscheidung zwischen antinomischen und anderen christlichen Ansichten über das moralische Gesetz ist, dass die Antinomiker glauben, dass der Gehorsam gegenüber dem Gesetz durch ein internes Prinzip motiviert wird, das aus dem Glauben und nicht aus irgendeinem äußeren Zwang fließt. Der Begriff Antinomismus trat bald nach der protestantischen Reformation auf und wurde historisch als ein Pejorativ gegen christliche Denker oder Sekten verwendet, die ihren Glauben an die Rechtfertigung durch den Glauben weiter führten, als es üblich war. Der Antinomismus in der modernen Zeit wird allgemein als das theologische Gegenteil zum Legalismus oder der Gerechtigkeit der Gerechtigkeit gesehen, die Vorstellung, dass der Gehorsam gegenüber dem religiösen Recht die Erlösung verdient. Das macht den Antinomismus zu einer Übertreibung der Rechtfertigung durch den Glauben allein. Beispiele sind Martin Luthers Kritik am Antinomismus und die antinomische Kontroverse der Massachusetts Bay Colony aus dem 17. Jahrhundert.
